I first met Lara from The White Ribbon at our first styled shoot in July 2021 and we hit it off really well so when I was brainstorming for this spring inspired styled shoot, she directly came to my mind! We were able to create a colorful and elegant wedding decor with the rest of the Ottawa Wedding Vendors.

The set up took place at the Cumberland Belle in East Ottawa, it was truly the best venue for our vision. The Cumberland Belle is nestled in the charming and historic Cumberland village. The space is a unique mix of old and new, rustic and modern – it features original stained-glass windows and a cathedral ceiling, with a bright and updated look and can accommodate up to 72 people for a seated dinner.

We chose Annie and Jessie as they are a real life couple and were engaged at the moment so I knew I would get real emotions from them and oh was I right!

Wedding Details

I started the shoot with my favorite part which are the detail flat lay. We used gold accessories, the beautiful yellows, lavenders and creams. It was truly everything you would dream of about an Ottawa spring wedding. The delicate jewelry from Sugarcane & Co was the perfect complement to the look we were going for.

The gorgeous and elegant invitation suite made by Wishtree Invitations & Design Inc was the real star of the flat lay, with a gorgeous shade of lavender and subtle script police.

The Bride and Groom Getting Ready

The wedding getting ready is such an important but overlooked. I always make it a point to remind my couples just how important it is to include getting ready photos in their schedule.

When it came to A&J styled shoot, I did the same. We set up the getting ready area close to a window and kept the environment very clean and simple to create bright and airy photos. Once again the delicate gold jewelry from Sugarcane & Co was the perfect complement to the lace dress from Chic Bridal from La Maison Bridal Boutique. The half updo on A framed her face perfectly and the smokey-eye gave the whole look a lot of character.

When it was J’s turn to get ready, I let him finish fully getting dressed and I got him to do a few poses for me. That is how I usually handle groom’s getting ready photos, I like to keep it quick and simple with the groom and groomsmen getting ready photos while adding a few fun props and poses. In this case, the blue suit, the brown suspenders and bow tie from Rene Giroux Mens Wear was so classy and elegant, J looked like a million bucks in it.

A Spring Wedding Decor

The decor was absolutely enchanting, it featured floral decorations in shades of pink, yellow, orange and white to reflect the blooming flowers of the season. The ceremony area had a gold frame with a beautiful white drapery and a really cool “it was always you” neon sign from Signed with Neon. At the bottom of the frame, an enchanting clear flower display with a very simple and elegant vanilla cake decorated with white pearls.

The reception area featured a gorgeous long wood table from Groupe ABP with white wooden chairs. The centerpieces were composed of tall light yellow candles, a few golden voltive candles, gold cutlery, baroque style charger plates, a colorful crescent flower arrangement made by The White Ribbon Decor.

Overall, a spring decor wedding aims to capture the beauty and freshness of the season and create a romantic and cheerful atmosphere.

The couple photoshoot

As mentioned previously, A&J were engaged at that moment so it was a good occasion to practice their wedding day poses. We started with a first look and then some sitting poses to take advantage of the table scape and then had a little dancing session, it created the most beautiful natural photos. We ended the session with a sweet cake cutting.
