K&A found me and hired me as their Ottawa wedding photographer following the referral of my talented friends at Mint Events Ottawa. We hit it off from the first call with K, she was so much fun to talk to over the phone, I immediately knew that we were an excellent fit for each other.

We then planned for their complimentary engagement session for the month of June at the National Arts Centre. There was a forecast of rain for that night, we still maintained the session and made the best of it.

The August Orchard View wedding day

K&A’s wedding day was a beautiful sunny day of August at Orchard View in Greely. We started the day with feminine and light detail photos in the bridal suite of Orchard View to then proceed with getting ready photos, an emotional first look with K’s grandmother and aunt and a fun first look with a very fun group of bridesmaids, and finally first look with her hubby.

The ceremony was held under the gazebo of the venue. The ceremony was nothing short of emotional and touching. K had planned for a special place for her late mother with a simple framed picture of her mother looking over her daughter. K walked down the aisle in her gorgeous princess dress and dramatic veil all smiles, while A got emotional looking at her. Once they were married, they jumped the broom hand in hand and walked away as husband and wife!

Since K&A had pretty large families, we jumped into family and group photos right away. The help of Yasmine and Hannah was oh so precious to help me coordinate the whole thing. The portion with the bridal party was the funnest and lighthearted of the day and the photos speak for themselves!

Some Unique touches

Some very unique touches were added to the day by the bride, notably the presence of her late mother in a beautiful framed photo at the getting ready location, the ceremony and the reception.

It was also the first time doing a first look with a grandmother, that moment was so precious!

Another special touch that was very new to me was the dove release. Originally, the release was supposed to be done after they got married at the ceremony but because of usual wedding day delays, we ended up releasing the doves at the getting ready and it made the release that much more special!

The decor and colors

We started off the reception with the couple’s reception hall reveal. The Mint Events Ottawa team and the girls from Moonlight Events did an amazing job on the reception decor, while keeping the ceremony location pretty simple. Shades of white and pink with touches of gold were used to decorate the reception hall of Orchard View.
