Over my years of experience, I’ve yet to meet a couple as laid-back as S&M! Being the busy photographer that I am, client consultations sometimes happen in those less-than-ideal moments. With that said, can you believe we had our booking consultations while I was riding the train back from Montreal? Best of all, the couple were completely unphased by this! Their mission was clear as day – all they wanted was an engagement session in Ottawa, specifically the iconic Canadian Museum of History. This shoot was the first of three collaborations we did, and each ended up being more unique than the next. For that reason, let me share a little fragment of their story.
Before we go into specifics, I must spotlight the Canadian Museum of History, as this is one of Ottawa's best locations. As one of the most sought-after wedding venues in Ottawa, the museum perfectly blends the old with the new. However, aside from being the perfect spot for celebrations of love, the Canadian Museum of History is also an excellent choice for your engagement session. Although many things contribute to its beauty, the definite attention-grabber is the view it provides. Overlooking the Parliament Hall and Alexandria Bridge, you get a scenery of sheer elegance and sophistication. Just one look at S&M’s engagement session will be enough to sway your mind!
After the out-of-the-ordinary consultation, it was time for me and the couple to finally meet. Unsurprisingly, they were even more laid-back in person, so I knew I was in for a treat! From the start, they dazzled me with their stunning looks. S rocked a long-flowing ruby-red dress, while M wore a neutral-colored blazer that matched the surroundings of the Canadian Museum of History.
As previously mentioned, what made this engagement session in Ottawa was the view from the museum. We didn’t even have to try hard to get amazing pictures – the atmosphere gave us everything we needed! Even though it was mid-July, you have to remember we were in the city with the most unpredictable weather. Instead of sunshine, the Canadian Museum of History was covered with gray skies, but that didn’t stop us in our mission. On the contrary, it actually worked in our favour! The photos had a dramatic touch, adding to the overall elegant ambiance.
From the steps, we continued the engagement session by the water. Here, S and M shared gentle embraces and sweet kisses, and we even found the time to do some individual shots. All in all, this was an incredibly relaxed shoot that practically didn’t feel like work at all!
